The White Lady cocktail was invented in 1919 by the famous bartender Harry MacElhone when he was working at Ciro's Club in London. It originally contained crème de menthe, triple sec and lemon in an interesting, if unusual, combination of ingredients. This version was popular for a decade, but didn't last long.
This was not due to a world war, prohibition or hard-to-find products: It was simply because MacElhone changed his creation in 1929 when he was working behind the bar at his own establishment, Harry's New York Bar in Paris.

The Vesper, also known as the Vesper Martini, was made famous by James Bond. The cocktail was invented by none other than Bond author Ian Fleming. The drink first appeared in his book "Casino Royale", published in 1953, and the cocktail is named after the fictional double agent Vesper Lynd.
When Bond orders the Vesper, he gives the bartender precise instructions. These instructions should be followed by everyone who prepares it. Bond says: "Three parts Gordon's, one part vodka, half a part Kina Lillet. Shake everything well until it's ice cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel. Got it?"
With all due respect to 007, we would recommend one change. Shaking a Vesper can cause the drink to become too diluted and less smooth in texture - and a Martini is not meant to have chunks of ice floating on it. The golden rule is to always stir spirits-only cocktails, and there's no reason to make an exception here.
This Vesper recipe makes a stiff drink with four ounces of high-proof spirits and half an ounce of lower-alcohol Lillet blanc. In the book, Bond claims that when he's concentrating, he never has more than one drink before dinner. But he likes that one drink to be very large. It's easy to understand such a loophole. But if you want a less alcoholic drink, you can reduce the quantity without changing the proportions.
The Tuxedo is an official cocktail of the IBA and consists of gin, dry vermouth, orange bitters, maraschino and absinthe.
The Tuxedo is related to the Martini and has undergone many variations since its introduction in the 1880s. The cocktail is named after the Tuxedo Club in Orange County, New York, where it was first mixed. Tuxedo Park, the planned community where the club was built, is itself a derivation of the Lenape word tucseto. The men's fashion of the same name originated around the same time at the same country club.
